Day 181 - Plastic Cutlery

This is the time of year for picnics and summer gatherings, especially with the 4th of July shortly upon us. So why am I getting rid of plastic cutlery? Well, because it has been in a buffet cabinet drawer that also had some air freshener stored in it. The plastic absorbed the smell of the air freshener. Want to taste that with every bite of baked beans and potato salad? I don't. So it's trashed.

Day 180 - Music Box

Today I am adding a very cute little music box to the donation box. 

Day 179 - Toys

Little toys. Into the donation bag.

Day 178 - Carry-All Bag

I'm not one to just throw things in the trash, but this carry-all bag was in pretty bad shape, tattered and just collecting dust in the garage. Since one of the zippers was broken, I just threw it in the trash. 

Day 177 - Belt

Today I'm saying "so long" to a belt that is no longer worn.

Day 176 - Books

I have more books than I can read, so today I put a couple of hardbound books into the donation box.

Day 175 - T-Shirts

The donation bag got a stack of t-shirts today!

Day 174 - Phone

Knowing this phone has to go rings true! Bye-bye, Mr. Phone.

Day 173 - Bikini

And the choice of something to donate today is.... (drum roll, please) ...an itsy-bitsy, teenie-weenie, yellow polka dot bikini! Okay, well it's pink and green, not yellow. 

Day 172 - Frames

Today I'm getting rid of yet MORE frames! All the frames in my closet had photos in them, which I removed, and then added the frames to the donation box.

Day 171 - Soup Bowls

Today I'm letting go of three soup bowls. I like them, but they don't stack well in the cabinet and don't fit well in the dishwasher. Besides, there are only three; not a "complete set".  

Day 170 - Sweats

Today I put more clothes into the donation bag... a pair of sweat pants and a sweatshirt.

Some days it just doesn't seem like much, but slowly and surely, I'm winning the race. I feel it and it's empowering!

Day 169 - Top and Camisoles

I started a new donation bag today. The first items to be added were a sleeveless top and two camisoles.

 

Day 168 - Frames

Yes, I am getting rid of more frames. These are so outdated! Enough said.

Day 167 - Mattresses

In the war on clutter, I'm going to the mattresses. This pair of twin size mattresses were picked up today by a recycling company.  

Day 166 - Sweater Jacket

I'm not sure what to call this. A sweater jacket? A zippered sweater? How about a knit jacket? Well, whatever name it goes by, I'm going to call it gone! 

Day 165 - Tote Bag

This tote bag has made its way into the donation box. 

Bye-bye, Mr. Tote Bag. 

Day 164 - Coffee Mugs

Red, white, and blue! Stars and stripes! Today is the day to give these coffee mugs away. 

I am very happy to report that the Salvation Army truck took several boxes away today. Yesss!!! 

Day 163 - Flight Bag

Today I am getting rid of a small carry-on bag. It was my daughter's, but has not been used in a very long time and she no longer wants it. Out it goes!

Day 162 - Bike Helmets

There were some bicycle helmets in the garage collecting dust. The kids are grown and no longer own any bikes. No bikes; no need for helmets. Getting rid of them today.

Day 161 - Shoes

Today I put shoes into the donation box.

Oh, so loving the space that I'm reclaiming!

Day 160 - CDs

Today I am getting rid of a whole pile of CDs. I am amazed at how many CDs I have been finding around my house. I thought I had them in three specific storage locations. 1) In a shoe-box-sized wicker basket in my room, 2) On a bookshelf next to the entertainment center, and 3) In a plastic storage container in my closet. Apparently this is not so. I have found random CDs in odd places... like under my bed, in my pajama drawer, and in a box in the garage.

Day 159 - Faucet

Maybe it's really trash, I don't know, but this faucet is the type of thing that seems still usable. I don't want to be guilty of helping fill up the landfills. So I'm sending it to the Salvation Army. Hopefully it will find its way into the hands of someone who will be pleased to claim it and be exactly what they were looking for.

Day 158 - Toy Train

He played with it when he was three or four, but I don't think my twenty-six year old son will play with this wooden toy train set anymore. I'm going to donate it. 

Day 157 - Watches

Watch out! Or should I say "Watches out"?

...out of the house and to the Salvation Army.

Day 156 - Framed Prints

I dug some more frames out of my hall closet. My son was a train buff when he was young, so these prints decorated his room when he was a little boy. The oak frames have that 80s feel, don't they? I thought for a moment, "Hmm... I could update them, paint them black, keep them for something else". But just as quickly, I realized that is exactly the sort of thinking that makes me hang onto so much stuff. I want to GET RID of things. So out they go!

Day 155 - Sweatshirt

A stray sweatshirt has been hanging around at my house for quite some time. I finally tracked down who it belonged to (a friend of a friend of my kids) and returned it. 

Yay! Cleaning out my house.

Day 154 - Keys

Some days I find large things to discard. Some days they are small. Today I am throwing away a group of very little items: keys to things I no longer own. 

I know it doesn't seem like much, but I think every little bit counts and is that much more out of my life. 

Day 153 - Throw Rug

Snug as a bug in a rug. Well, maybe a bug will find it's way into this little number, all rolled up and ready to throw out.

Day 152 - Tank Top

Time to get rid of this little tank top that I never wear. Into the box!
