Day 359 - Magazines

Today on Christmas day I have decided to purge my magazine rack of a few old  magazines. They are two December issues of Martha Stewart "Living" (1995 and 1997), and a 1995 issue of a Better Homes and Gardens publication called "Holiday Decorating". It's fun looking through them since they are now a bit "retro", but of course I really have no need for them. A few days ago I offered them on FreeCycle, but so far have had no takers. They will go into the recycle barrel if no one wants them. Merry Christmas to all!

Day 286 - Children's Books

When one of my sons was little, he loved trains! He didn't think about anything else. He played with them, talked about them, drew pictures of them, dreamed about them, wished for them, and of course, he read books about them. Talk about a one "track" mind! Ha! He wanted to be a train conductor when he grew up. Well, he's all grown up now and he is a computer programmer.  That did take some "training", but other than that, he doesn't think about being a conductor anymore. So today, as sad as it is, I'm letting go of these children's books all about trains.

Day 283 - Little Red Riding Hood Costume

I made this Little Red Riding Hood costume for the little girl I used to babysit. She was 4 years old then, and now she is 25! Where has the time gone? My two girls (now 22 and 20) got some use out of the costume as well, but I think it has overstayed its welcome just a wee bit too long. I'm going to pass it along to my little great-niece who will enjoy wearing it.

Day 268 - Star Wars Imperial Blaster

The item I've chosen to get rid of today is a Star Wars Storm Trooper Imperial Blaster. With Halloween coming up in just a few weeks, I thought it would be a good idea to list it on FreeCycle. Maybe someone will pick it up to go along with a costume.

Day 205 - Wrought Iron Ornaments

I always loved these wrought iron ornaments, but I never figured out what to do with them, so they ended up collecting dust in my garage. Since I know she loved them as much as I did, I decided to give them to my sister-in-law who also bought some the day I bought these. She has the means and the talent to do something I could never do.

Goodbye, pretty little ornaments! Enjoy your new home.

Day 203 - Pooh Calendar

Winnie the Pooh is so very endearing. I saved this old 1998 Winnie the Pooh calendar because it has the most wonderful little clips and quotes from A. A. Milne's books. How can anyone part with such adorable-ness?

Well, I'll tell you how. After storing it away for 13 years - well, 12 years, since the first year it was on the wall - I have realized that it has been out of sight, out of mind. If I keep it, it will again be stored away and I will not think about it. So I am going to get rid of it, but I'm not going to throw it in the trash. I have come up with a very creative idea which I will show you in a week to ten days or so. Keep your eyes opened! You'll love it!

Day 201 - Game Boy Bag

One more item given away. One more item out of my house. One more little piece of "real estate" freed up and that much more elbow room for me. Today that item is a Game Boy bag.

Day 197 - Desk Chair

"Free" is such an enticing word. Who can pass up anything with that word on it? I put this desk chair on the curb with a FREE sign on it and in no time it was gone. Gone! I love it!

Day 189 - Thread

Cleaning out my sewing machine cabinet drawers today, I came across some thread that I don't need, and a little package of craft pom-poms. I gave it all to a young friend. It makes me happy knowing it will be used instead of sitting in a drawer.

Have fun with it, Megan! Make something cool. :)

Day 8 - Can Opener

Today is quick and easy. I have two manual can openers. I don't use one of them because it doesn't work well, which is the reason I bought the second one in the first place. So out with the old and keeping the new(er) one.

Out with the old

Ahh... A little more room in my utensil drawer. I'm liking that!
