Day 151 - Set of Frames

I have been going through my hall closet where I have stashed quite a few framed pictures. Many of the frames are outdated, so I've decided to part with them and put them in the donation box.

Note to self: Need a new box. This one's getting full!

Day 150 - Books

Wow! As of today, it's been 150 days of blogging, keeping track of the things I've donated, sold, or trashed. It is nice to see these things leave my home and I am beginning to breathe a little easier.

Today on Memorial Day I have some books going into the Salvation Army box.

Thanking and remembering all the servicemen who sacrificed their lives for the freedoms of our country! Jesus said, "Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends".

Day 149 - Another Frame

This evening I am adding a frame to the donation box.

I hope everyone is having a nice holiday weekend!

Day 148 - Cameras

Today I am choosing to let go of a Minolta SLR camera and an old instamatic in a carrying case. These cameras are thirty plus years old. Parting with them is bittersweet, but I don't use them at all anymore (especially the instamatic!), so there is no point in keeping them. They are just taking up space, space I want cleared out.

Day 147 - Junk Mail

Today, can I get rid of my bills? Okay, well as much as I wish I could, I will be satisfied to shred and throw away some junk mail and paper clutter.

Day 146 - Clock

Today is the day. It's time! Time to lose the regulator clock. I wish it still worked.

Day 145 - No Tea Cups, Frame!

I brought these pretty little tea cups home from a thrift store when my girls were small so we could have tea time with "real" cups... and I didn't have to worry about my good bone china. They loved it! Now, all grown up, they still have tea with me but in their own real bone china cups.

Needless to say, these old thrift store finds will be donated.

Update to Day 145 (Thursday May 26)
My daughter requested that I please keep the tea cups because they hold special memories for her. In that case, I am replacing the day's donation with a multi-picture photo frame.

Day 144 - Film

There had been five rolls of film in this box, but only four remain. I think I stashed the box away after I began using a digital camera and then completely forgot about the film.

It states on the back of the box to develop before July 2008. Hmmm... Think I should throw it in the trash?

Day 143 - Three Shirts

More clothes will be leaving my home. A stack of three button-up dress shirts that were my son's will be going to the Salvation Army.

It is getting to the point that it excites me each time I find something to add to my "get rid of" list, and it makes me want to find yet another item to toss or donate. It's working! My year long plan is working!

Day 142 - Sweatshirt

This is a pretty cool sweatshirt. "SWAT" is an acronym for Students With A Testimony, which is a group at my church for high school and college aged kids. My son didn't want the shirt anymore, so it was given to one of my kids' friends, who was very happy to receive it. :)

Day 141 - Boom Box

The boom box was listened to quite often back in the day. Now I have a CD player in my car; I have an iPod and an iPad; and I have a computer with speakers. Getting rid of the poor old boom box. Bye-bye, old buddy!

Day 139 - Craft Punches

Being the creative type, I tend to collect craft items. Sometimes I end up with things I think I'll use a lot and end up not using them often at all. Such is the case with these craft punches. They are going into the donation box tonight.

Day 138 - Cassette Tapes

Plain and simple - This evening I trashed some old used cassette tapes. I mean, who uses cassette tapes? Adios, old amigos!

Day 137 - Calendars

Sometimes I think I should never buy calendars with pretty pictures. It makes me want to keep them forever! Finally decided to throw these away... 2006 and 2007.

Day 136 - Grab Bag

Today I'm throwing out a bag of junk. Yep... just junk!

Trashed the whole thing. Sayonara, Grab Bag!

Day 135 - Baby Clothes

These baby clothes did not belong to my own children. My goodness! That would mean they'd been sitting in a box for at least twenty years. I picked these up somewhere with the intention of donating them to "Newborns in Need". Time to donate them!

Speaking of babies... I had one twenty-five years ago tomorrow. Happy Birthday, Levi!!!

Day 134 - Handbag

One of my best friends had a handbag just like this one that broke. Since I'm not using it, I gave it to her. She was so happy! It was like an old buddy back in her arms again.

Helping a friend AND one more thing out of my closet! Lovin' it!

Day 133 - Makeup

Today I am throwing away some old makeup.

Don't need it. Don't want it. Trashing it!

Day 132 - Nightshirt

I have this thermal nightshirt that I have always loved. I LOVE the look and feel of the fabric. I LOVE the shade of red. I love everything about it! But for some reason I never wear it, even though I've had it for over ten years. Do you think it’s time to release it into Never-Never-Land? I do.

Wonderful thermal nightshirt!

FYI to those who may be wondering. Though I tried, I didn't post this yesterday (May 12th) because the blogger site was down all afternoon and late into the evening for maintenance issues.

Day 131 - Stamp Pads

Stamp pads for rubber stamping are on my list today. Old and dried out. To the trash they go!

Day 130 - Floppy Disks

The times, they are a changin'... as Bob Dylan sang. Technology marches on and old floppy disks have been replaced by CDs and flash drives. I no longer own a computer with a floppy drive, rendering all my 1.44 MB 3.5 inch floppies useless. I have no idea what information may be on them, so I hesitate to donate them or even toss them in the trash. I found a company that has a recycling program for floppies which has been extended until December 31, 2011. They will reformat the diskettes so no need to erase the data. You can find this info at floppydisk.com.

Even so, I am a little leery of doing this. I chose the alternative method. About a dozen of them were dismantled, cut up, and discarded. I have many many more, so you may see more of this in the future.

Day 129 - Hat and Gloves

A hat and matching gloves, such a pretty little set, have been put into the donation box. They belonged to my daughter but she has outgrown them. Alas! As a mother, it is sometimes hard to watch children grow up. But I must say, she sure did treat me right for Mother's Day yesterday! Lots of thanks yous and hugs to all my kiddos!!!

Day 128 - Microwave

I donated two things to the Electronics Recycling Event yesterday, and counted one as a donation for today. (Is that cheating?) So "today's" donation was a dead microwave oven. I think I popped one too many batches of popcorn in it.

Dead Microwave Oven
I've had a great Mother's Day with my daughters... a special breakfast, doing a home spa (facial, makeup, and hair), and a tea luncheon which included a reading of "When Queens Ride By". And the day isn't over yet! I think there's a pedicure and a movie to come. What wonderful kids I have! Thank you, girls! And Happy Mother's Day to all you moms out there!

Day 127 - Printer

There was an Electronics Recycling Event in my community today, so I paid a visit and dropped off a printer. Actually it was a Copier-Printer-Scanner-Fax combo. I was constantly frustrated with the darned thing because it had problems. Well, now the problem is GONE! Yay!

Day 126 - Purse

Raise your hand if you're a woman who collects purses! Well, I don't collect them; I just don't part with them once I'm "done" with them. Why, I don't know. But now is the time for parting! Woo hoo! Let's get this parting started!!!

Here is one that's going, going, gone!

Day 125 - Sewing Patterns

As a seamstress I have patterns, fabric, notions, and other sewing paraphernalia in need of downsizing.  This evening I am adding a few patterns to my donation box. Can you say "80s Fashion"? or "Shoulder Pads!?"? Haha!

Day 124 - Leotard

Going through a box of rarely used winter clothes and costumes, I found this leotard that is far too small for my girls to wear anymore. You know where it's going, don't you? The donation box!

Day 123 - Hats

Today: winter hats. At 95 degrees, the last thing I want to think about is something to keep our heads warm.

These particular hats have not been worn by anyone in my household for a few years, so I can safely say that they will not be missed. Into the donation box for these fellows.

Day 122 - Costume

Okay, today the ousted item is a costume I made eons ago. I need it no more, so it's off to the Salvation Army!

Day 121 - Video Camera

It's day 121 and marks one-third of the way through the year. That means I have gotten rid of 121 items! Not too shabby.

Well, today I am donating an old VHS video camera. It has seen it's day.
